Andrew's Surprise Party & Graduation

So last weekend I threw Andrew a surprise party.. he had no idea that this was all going on, so you can only imagine the look on his face when he was greeted by 20-30 of his closest friends and family. I was really glad that the majority of the invitees were able to attend, especially some of his friends that made huge sacrifices to be there. We're grateful to have such wonderful people in our lives, and it is a true testament to the person that he is that all these people would take time out of their day to attend something for him. He is a wonderful person, and I couldn't have picked a better husband.

The following day, on Sunday, Andrew graduated from NOVA with his Associates in Administration of Justice, specializing in Criminal Justice. I am so proud of him for finishing 2 years of school, and I'm excited for him to start pursuing his Bachelors next year.

Also, today is his 25th birthday! I just wanted to let everyone know! Tomorrow is my birthday (24th), too. We're going to Philadelphia this weekend with Brett and Mesia (brother in law and sister in law) to see Fleet Foxes and tour the city (Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, philly cheese steaks, etc). We're also stopping at Gettysburg on the way home. What a great birthday weekend it will be!

Also highly important is the fact that Andrew leaves for boot camp in 10 days! I can't believe it is here so fast! I am going to miss him so much.. what will I do without my best friend? Oh well, I am so happy for him and anxious to see who he will be when he gets home-- 3 months later. I get to talk to him only once over those 3 months, so it will be a challenge, but I'm proud of him for serving a cause bigger than himself.

That's all for now. I'll post pictures of graduation and this weekend later.

  1. Ahhh you poor thing. It will definitely be tough but enjoy every second that you have together before hand. After having Mike gone so much this last year I really appreciate all of the dulll and ordinary moments that we have together. Time will go by quickly though. You'll see.

  2. Congrats to Andrew, and happy birthday!! Boot camp will be tough, but you can do it. Mark and I spent two years apart when he was on his mission. You'll both be so busy, the time will fly by!
